Ramadan has arrived once more, the most celebrated month
for people of the Muslim faith, bringing about an abundance of merits
along with a daily fast. This fasting is not a mere religious ritual, it
also serves as a reminder and an exercise in empathy for those whose
lives are less fortunate than ourselves. While the pandemic anchors us
to our respective homes, many businesses falter and sources of income
diminish for those without the privilege of working from home. Ramadhan
is also a month of giving and charity, and while Ramadhan itself is
specifically a Muslim practice, these generous acts are unanimously
encouraged by all faiths. But how should you go about that?
What is KSBB?
The Provincial Government of Jakarta wishes to strengthen
the spirit of solidarity during these difficult times by facilitating
its citizens with a donation platform in which you can donate money or
food for those who need them. This Large-Scale Social Collaboration, or
Kolaborasi Sosial Berskala Besar (KSBB), is different from the regular
Social Aid program in that the aid does not come from the government.
All the donations will be sourced from you, the citizens, and the
government merely acts as a facilitator. Items qualified for donation
include essential food items as well as cash. The proceeds from this
program will be distributed to various target communities and
associations among which are prioritized lower-class hamlets (RW),
orphanages, islamic boarding schools, nursing homes, and homes for the
disabled.
The donations will be distributed according to the Large-scale Social Restriction (PSBB)
rules and will be sent to an agreed location by the recipient RW or
directly to the nursing home, boarding school, or other relevant
associations. If the donated items are sent to a prioritized RW, they
will be delivered door-to-door to the residents’ homes while still
maintaining physical distancing protocol. This is done to avoid crowds
of residents all waiting to receive their aid packages.
How Do I Participate in KSBB?
Registration is done digitally by going to the KSBB website at https://corona.jakarta.go.id/platform-ksbb.
Once you open the web page, you will see a map tagged with locations
that will be receiving the donations. You could also filter by a
specific category of locations such as nursing homes or orphanages.
After you have picked where you would send your donations to, you simply
have to click the blue button labeled “Beri Bantuan” or “provide help”.
Before you can officially become a collaborator or donator, you must
fill in a commitment form. Several information relating the type and
amount of aid packages must be selected carefully.
Once the form has been completed, you will receive a
Collaborator ID as well as the contact info for the RW you have chosen
in order to coordinate with the related party. You could also donate via
the official partners or aggregators working with the Provincial
Government.
You can do this by writing down the contact information of
the partner or aggregator of your choice in the Donator section of the
commitment form. Your donation will be directly transferred to the
location by the partner. Aggregators and partners represent legal
entities or licensed Social Funds Institutions that can partner with the
Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta to run the KSBB program.

Monitor Aid Distribution
The KSBB website
also provides information for you to stay up to date with your or other
citizens’ donations. The KSBB program aims to uphold a high standard of
transparency, which is why all the information pertaining to the
program and the donations are also made public and can be accessed
freely through the website.
To monitor your donations as well as locations that have
received aid, the Provincial Government provides the KSBB Platform.
Click the layer button in the top right of the map and check the box
labeled “Peta Komitmen KSBB”. All the locations that have received
donations will show up on the map. This way, the donations remain
transparent and prospective collaborators can select priority locations
that have yet to receive aid.
If you encounter any problems during the donation process
that you would like to report, you may submit your complaints through

This year’s Ramadan is unlike any we have faced before. We
experience the month of togetherness while each of us are confined to
our homes, but this month of giving also happens to coincide with a time
where many of us face difficult trials and big changes in our lives. If
there is anything to take away from this, it is that right now is a
perfect time to give some of ourselves in order to aid our fellow
citizens. Jakarta needs your help and what little you can spare will go a
long way in helping those in need.
