Following the calendar set by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the Government of Jakarta has announced that July 13, 2020, is the start date of the 2020/2021 school year. However, given the ongoing outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the capital, face-to-face learning is not possible yet and has to be done with the Long Distance Learning (PJJ) system.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan explained that the high risk of Covid-19 transmission among children is one of the reasons behind the government's decision to not reopen schools in Jakarta at this moment.

"The risk [of Covid-19 exposure] in children for cases in Indonesia and Jakarta is quite high. So we need to emphasize, the school will not reopen even though the school year will start on the 13th of July," Anies explained in a press conference at City Hall on July 1.

Even though learning activities are still carried out at homes, that does not mean that both students and teachers are completely free from the risk of being exposed to Covid-19. That is why JakCLM's self-screening feature can be utilized so that distance learning activities can run optimally.

JakCLM Helps Students Learn Covid-19 Symptoms

Frequent visitors of Jakarta Smart City blog are certainly quite familiar with the main uses of the JakCLM feature. But for those of you who haven't, JakCLM is a tool that allows you to find out if you are indicated by Covid-19 or not. At the end of the examination, you will get medical advice that best suits your health condition.

If you haven't reached the age of 17, which means you can't have a KTP card yet, you don't need to worry because you can use your Family Card number when filling in your identification details.

For teachers, the use of JakCLM can also be used as a learning material for students. Starting with the procedure of filling in itself to explaining the symptoms of Covid-19. That way, students can also be taught not to hesitate to check with JakCLM when they feel symptoms similar to Covid-19 such as coughs and colds.

Educating Students about PCR Tests

Another topic that could not be miss is regarding the procedure of Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test. The term PCR test might sound unfamiliar to children. Therefore, teachers can take a role in guiding students about the importance of the PCR test and the things that need to be done if they are recommended for a PCR test, or what is also commonly referred to as a swab test.

For example, the teacher can help students with documents that need to be prepared and remind them of health protocols that must be followed so that students are no longer confused when going to a health facility to undergo a test.

And finally, JakCLM also helped raise awareness and alertness of students during a pandemic. Teachers can participate in training students to become honest and responsible citizens. So, for those of you who are about to enter the new school year, don't forget to use the JakCLM feature wisely and answer each question correctly.

JakCLM is the result of a collaboration between the Provincial Government of Jakarta through the Jakarta Smart City and the Health Department of Jakarta with the Harvard CLM Team and Klakklik.ID. To access its features, download the JAKI application, now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
