The long holiday is over, it's time to get back to our daily activities. For those of you who start your activity by taking public transportation, don't forget to apply health protocols. Apart from protecting ourselves, it will also protect our loved ones from Covid-19. While we discuss about health protocols subject, what are the things that need to be our attention to stay safe while taking public transportation? Let’s see the following tips below!

Wear Your Mask Correctly

All public transportation in Jakarta requires its passengers to wear masks. Of course this is a very good way to prevent the Covid-19  transmission. But keep in mind, no matter how good the policy is made, it will not be successful without the help of all parties involved.

Keep wearing your mask while in public transportation. Don't take it down, or evenmore take it off. Ensure that the mask remains in the correct position, covering your nose and mouth. So it can protect you from the small particles that cause Covid-19 which might be exist in public places.

Don’t Talk In Public Transportation

Apart from being obliged to wear masks, passengers are also not allowed to speak while usingpublic transportation. Either speak in person, or by cellphone. Remember that Covid-19 transmission can occur through droplets that come out from the mouth when sneezing or talking. So, don’t talk while in public transportation for your safety and people around you.

Keep Distance with Other Passengers

The passenger capacity in each public transportation has been regulated during the enforcement of micro-scale public activity restrictions (PPKM) period. Until now, the passenger capacity allowed is only 50% of the normal total capacity. Every public transportation such as Transjakarta, MRT, LRT, and JakLingko has also implemented this policy by sealing their seats as much as 50% of the existing capacity.

Strict queue management is also implemented at stations and bus stops where passengers wait for their buses or trains. That way, we can still keep our distance from other passengers. Another tip so you don't jostle in long queues is to avoid busy times, or the time when people usually leave and come home from work.

Keep Your Hands Clean

If you pay attention, in several corners of bus stops and stations, there are already places provided for you to clean your hands. Either in the form of a place to wash hands with running water, or a place for hand sanitizers. So, don't forget to always clean your hands before and after taking public transportation. Also remember to avoid touching surfaces that are frequently touched by people while at bus stops, stations, or other public transportation.

Wear a Hooded Jacket

The particles that cause Covid-19 are microscopically small, can’t be seen with the naked eye, and can spread anywhere. For better protection, you can also use a hooded jacket while taking public transportation. That way, you will get better protection  against the risk of Covid-19. Of course, by still using a mask and doing the tips described earlier.

We can stay safe while taking public transportation in Jakarta, as long as we implement the 3M (wearing mask, washing hand, and maintaining distance) and other health protocols. The policies implemented by Transjakarta, MRT, LRT, and JakLingko are also ways to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 in public transportation. Apart from the things that have been mentioned above, we can also prevent the spread of the virus by reporting violations of the health protocol in public places through the JakLapor feature in the JAKI application. Download JAKI through Google Play Store and App Store to protect yourself and your family from the dangers of Covid-19.
