SMEs Large-scale Social Collaboration: Helping Small Businesses of Jakarta

The Large-Scale Social Collaboration (KSBB) Program that was started last May is still going strong. As recently as 17 July, over 350,000 basic food packages have been generously donated by the citizens and distributed to many families in Jakarta through the KSBB Platform. Seeing the great generosity of the people of Jakarta, the Provincial Government has decided to expand the recipient of the KSBB program beyond Jakarta’s families, orphanages and institutions. While sending donations to these parties is still wholly available through the Platform, the Jakarta Provincial Government now introduces SMEs Large-scale Social Collaboration, a donation program aimed at the micro, small, and medium businesses of Jakarta.

Saving a Major Part of Jakarta’s Economy

The capital city is home to over 1,1 million businesses classified as small-medium enterprises (SME) whose major contributions supply the needs of many citizens of Jakarta as well as driving about 94% of the city's economy. From these numbers alone, we can already see the significance of SMEs in Jakarta’s world of commerce. However, in the times of the Covid-19 pandemic, SMEs have become one of the most vulnerable economic groups and face various challenges from the financial kind to compliance with new hygiene standards. The direness of this situation was why the Jakarta Provincial Government decided to create a donation platform specifically aimed at these businesses.

Previously, the Provincial Government had taken an active role to stimulate the development of integrated entrepreneurship, through the creation, facilitation and collaboration platforms for the development of SMEs by developing Jakpreneur. This program assists in the building of start-ups and small businesses through long-term collaboration or other activities such as coaching and classes. As of June 2020, Jakpreneur has amassed and trained over 140,000 members. Now, the Jakpreneur program continues to help micro, small, and medium businesses by providing the SMEs Large-scale Social Collaboration donation platform.

How You Can Help

SMEs Large-scale Social Collaboration, and by extension the entire KSBB program, is a fully public-sourced donation platform. All the assistance received is graciously provided by citizens of Jakarta. This means that you too can contribute to aiding Jakarta’s growing businesses. Simply by visiting the SMEs Large-scale Social Collaboration Map web page, you will be met with a map of the city along with pins that show the location of the businesses that you can help. You can filter the businesses shown by district or sub-district. Once you select a location, you can click on the “Beri Bantuan” or “Give Help” button to make your choice. You will then be brought to a commitment form in which you have to fill in personal details, choose your donation package, schedule a date for when your package will be delivered, as well as provide a statement of commitment. Once you have confirmed your donation, you will have to contact the business you are helping and coordinate the technicalities of your donation according to the date you have chosen. After the donation has been completed, you would need to return to the SMEs Large-scale Social Collaboration Platform to report that your assistance has been realized.

The following are the three different ways you can help through the SMEs Large-scale Social Collaboration Platform represented as help packages to simplify the donation process, along with their estimated monetary value:
